My introduction to wrestling goes back to when my twin and I were just 6 years old. At the time, my dad was coaching at a local high school and we had to go with him to watch. For the next year, we would go to his practices every week during the season and my twin brother and I would shadow the high school wrestlers on the side. After two years of watching my dad coach he decided to put us into a club in Sackville, Nova Scotia. For my dad, he found it important to put us into wrestling from a young age because he believes wrestling is a good way to learn life lessons and to build a strong character. At the start of my wrestling career, it was mostly working on basics and building friendships. As I got older, my twin and I started attending the high school club practices and got serious in wrestling.
However, in grade 8, I had to take a year off because traveling to practice was a challenge. After the year long break, I started going back to practice. I fell in love with the sport even more and started attending other club practices to get more training. With reaching out came more opportunities.
As I got into high school, I started traveling to Ontario every second weekend for training and tournaments. During the summer, I would attend camps all across the country. As opportunities increased, I got better and built character. Even though stepping up to higher levels of wrestling has been very hard for me, I have built a strong foundation that I hope will last a lifetime.
